Klaudija Ylaite is a visual artist and researcher whose practice explores ritual structures, embodied knowledge, and altered states. Intense physical experience, repetition, prolonged duration, and site-responsive materials are the building blocks of what she calls ritual-to-performance. Within this ritual-to-performance methodology, she attempts to illuminate transition(s)—whether mental or physical—as a lived phenomenon.

Ylaite believes that human and other-than-human lives are built in cycles and threshold stages, where one cycle ends but another is not yet beginning. She sees this dynamic made visible in the contemporary age, shaped by colonial and capitalist regimes, in which the Earth’s inhabitants have become catatonically suspended in a threshold: “old systems have failed, while the new ones are not yet born.”
Working through a hauntological lens, she then revisits the past, unearthing forgotten cycles, failed futures, and buried rituals to mirror the present moment.
